Summary

SAP S/4hana Sourcing and Procurement Demo

Parminder introduces the SAP S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement demo session. He explains that the session will cover what SAP MM (Materials Management) and S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement are, as well as the path to becoming a consultant in this area. Parminder and Kunal will jointly present, with Kunal demonstrating the system later. The session structure includes an overview of SAP and S/4HANA, the procure-to-pay process, a system demo, course curriculum, and career path information. Parminder clarifies that SAP MM and S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement are essentially the same thing with different names, and advises including both terms on resumes for job searches.

Purchase Requisition and Purchase Order Process

Parminder discussed the procurement process, starting with the requirement for a purchase. This requirement can come from various departments or from a planning department. The process begins with the creation of a purchase requisition, which can be generated automatically if it comes from the planning department. The purchase requisition contains information about the material to be purchased, the quantity, and the vendor. However, the purchase requisition is not a legal document. The next step is the source assignment, where the existing source is checked. If a source is available, it is assigned to the purchase requisition, and a purchase order is created. The purchase order is a legal document and is mandatory to have a vendor information.

Procurement Approval Process Importance Discussed

Parminder discussed the importance of the release or approval process in procurement, emphasizing its role in controlling fraud and corruption. He suggested that most purchase orders should go through an approval process, which could involve multiple levels of approval depending on the purchase order's value. Parminder also highlighted the need for approval when purchase requisitions are manually created, as opposed to those generated by a planning tool. He noted that while some companies prefer to have all purchase requisitions approved, as a consultant, he recommends approval only for those created manually.

Project Production Order Release Process

Parminder discussed the project production order release process, including the use of output management for sending information to vendors and receiving acknowledgments. He also explained the procurement process, which includes sourcing, vendor selection, and payment. Kunal, a procurement consultant with over 8 years of experience, was introduced as a co-host to provide further insights into the SAP system and the end-to-end procurement process.

SAP Purchase-to-Pay Cycle Overview

Kunal provides an overview of the SAP system, focusing on the purchase-to-pay (P2P) cycle. He demonstrates how to access purchase orders using transaction codes, explaining the structure of a purchase order screen with its header, item overview, and item details sections. Kunal walks through the process from purchase requisition to goods receipt and invoice verification, highlighting key transaction codes and screens. He also briefly shows the SPRO configuration screen, explaining that it's used for backend configurations. Parminder concludes by mentioning that the bundle access includes 12 products, which were not available previously.

SAP Training and Product Overview

Parminder discussed the 12 products added to the training over the last 7 years. He emphasized that the content provided is comprehensive and not available elsewhere. He highlighted the importance of the 'Sap in a Nutshell' course for those new to SAP consulting. He also mentioned two workshops: one on SAP S/4 Hana and another on navigation. He explained that the recorded sessions and live training links are available for enrolled participants. He also mentioned the 'Mastery to SAP S/4 Hana, Sourcing and Procurement' course and the 'Gamifire' product for live session recordings.

Product Video Features and Content Library

Parminder discussed the product's video features, which provide quick help for resolving errors, especially for those working on the sandbox. He also addressed the large content of the product, stating that it's too big to cover in a single session. Parminder emphasized that not all content is necessary for becoming a consultant, and he introduced a new content library that provides step-by-step guides and additional videos for specific scenarios. He encouraged participants to utilize this resource for their projects.

Self-Exploration and Implementation Project Experience

Parminder discussed the importance of self-exploration and resources for becoming a consultant. He emphasized that while 40-50 hours of live training and content are provided, consultants need to be self-sufficient and not rely solely on these resources. Parminder also highlighted the need for experience in implementation projects, which he offers through a 60-80 hour course. He stressed the importance of understanding the business model and the need for detailed knowledge in areas such as functional specifications and test plans. Finally, he introduced an internship project as a way for students to gain hands-on experience in implementation projects.

Mentorship Program and Mock Interviews

Parminder discussed the mentorship program and mock interviews, which are currently free but may become charged in the future due to high demand and the cost of AI tools. He emphasized the importance of communication skills and the availability of 200 hours of additional video content on various topics. Parminder also shared a detailed video explaining the path to becoming a SAP consultant and encouraged attendees to put in the necessary effort to achieve their goals.

Sastrageek Excellence and Mastery Session

Parminder led a session, addressing questions and providing answers. He mentioned that a video would be shared by his team. He also mentioned that if any questions remained unanswered, attendees could reach out to [email protected] Parminder then handed over to Kunal and Aman to answer remaining questions. Kunal clarified that the release strategy would be covered under the excellence, not the mastery. Aman confirmed that the excellence is self-paced and not instructor-led. They also mentioned that there is a separate bundle for the release strategy and that they would try to resolve any troubleshooting errors shared by attendees. Aman concluded the session by sharing the detailed schedule of the badge and the support email and Whatsapp number for further queries.
